Is school a waste of time ?

It depends on your aspirations I think. If you want to obtain a job where the prerequisites is getting a certain grade in selected subjects, then yes, for example, If you wanna become a doctor or a lawyer where you 'need' school in order for you to get into law/med school. School also 'attempts' to discipline you with long assignments, regimented breaks, etc.
To cut a long story short, if you want to clean toilets, just drop out of school.
