The devotion and dedication from those that step up like that is extreme, risking your life, flying across the world, to endanger yourself.
Many of the people volunteering to be firefighters aren't being paid & if they are it's been shown to be small amounts under $1,000.
$1,000 seems like a lot but imagine risking your life to something you don't have 100% control over to save others & getting nothing or a tiny paycheck. Big rough especially when these people are out there fighting fires while their homes are on fire or at risk of being on fire.
Their lives before ours, they deserve something in return imo
