Planting trees isn't going to stop climate change.
The amount of oxygen produced by trees/forests is usually consumed by the organisms living on the ground around the trees, resulting in a net 0 gain of oxygen.
Most oxygen is produced in the ocean, and the overwhelming majority of oxygen already present on Earth has been here for millions of years. We could burn down every rain forest on the planet and still have enough oxygen to breath for thousands of years.
People pretending they care about the planet by pledging pocket change to plant trees makes them feel like they did something while they still continue to metaphorically shit on the planet with their physical existence in the modern Western world.
