I was wondering has anyone seen a dramatic decrease in engagement on giveaway posts since that red bathing suit blew up instagram?

It can be effective but it can also seem low quality and spammy. Really depends on who your audience is, and what kind of reputation you have as an Instagram.

Red bathing suit was amazing.

oh I was never aware of the red bathing suit thing lol. I don't pay attention or follow people that do that kinda stuff.

Well that's true but I saw it first hand limit reach and engagement as opposed to the same giveaway a month ago.

It's all about context, really. 

Giveaways can work well or they can work not well. Like I said already depends on your audience and what sort of reputation you have. GIveaways aren't a new concept, people have been using them to grow socials for a long time now. Just depends on whether or not the person running the growth campaign knows what they're doing or not.
