So I've come to the realization that a lot of people share a service on this website, but at the same time, the thread can only be updated by the original poster. I think that an option to add an additional editor to your forum post can be very useful in many ways. This would also be helpful for group info threads when updating the user list or just small tweaks to the thread in general. I envision it just being added at the bottom below where you could add a poll and would look something along the lines of this or this.
I don't think I should have to explain but what this allows us to do is add another person to see the "edit" button on posts they have not made in order to maintain the upkeep of a thread/post. I don't really see any possible issues with this as the only people who get added are ones who can edit it, so only add those you'd trust to edit the thread.
Additionally, should one of your editors make a change to either ruin the thread or something of the sort, you should be able (as the original poster, no one else.) to revoke anyone's access to edit the thread just as you had gave them the permission to do such.

EDIT: More updates to the suggestion.
Not an often occurrence and I think if someone's account was comprised the person would likely attempt to scam out in the user's name, not ruin a thread. Not to mention, this is also just as easily possible of a situation to the OP of the post so it really makes no difference and poses no more threat than said scenario. Also a pro tip: OP just keeps all the BB code and updates of the thread in a notepad/paste.
Or also, maybe @Ace could have the site create a backup of the thread that only the OP can restore to.
